My Review

Oh my stars, I simply had to tell someone about this delightful book I just finished - "Love at First Sighting" by Mallory Marlowe! I stumbled across it while searching for something that would combine my two greatest loves: romance and unexplained phenomena. As someone who's spent countless nights stargazing and dreaming of what might be out there, this book felt written just for me! The story follows an influencer who has a close encounter with something she can't explain, and the dashing government agent who actually believes her (and looks absolutely scrumptious in his vintage-inspired suits, I might add). What unfolds is this wonderful mix of conspiracy, adventure, and a love story that had me turning pages well past my bedtime. I particularly appreciated how the author tackled themes of authenticity and self-discovery. As someone who's always felt a bit different myself, watching the main character navigate between her public persona and her true self really resonated with me. And don't even get me started on the chemistry between the leads - it practically crackled off the page! The banter was absolutely pitch-perfect, and I found myself giggling out loud more times than I care to admit. However, I will say I wished there had been more actual alien content - my inner conspiracy theorist was hoping for a bit more extraterrestrial action. Also, the romance did lean rather heavily on instant attraction, though I suppose when you're dealing with possible alien encounters, time is of the essence! What truly won me over was how the story balanced its lighter moments with deeper emotional beats. It's like having a perfectly toasted marshmallow - crispy and sweet on the outside, but with hidden depth and warmth within. I'm giving this 4.5 out of 5 stars, and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys their romance with a side of mystery and adventure. Just make sure you have some time set aside - you won't want to put it down once you start! Yours truly, Farahilda (Currently checking my backyard for mysterious lights)

Book Description

A chance at love might not be out of this world in the next romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Mallory Marlowe. Los Angeles social media influencer El Martin seems to live the perfect aesthetic life. But what El wants more than anything is to find something real to make her heart race in a way it hasn’t in years. She doesn’t expect that feeling to come from capturing footage of an unidentified flying . . . thing, much less from the charming Man in Black who keeps following her around. Agent Carter Brody is trying his best to keep the Private Intelligence Sector afloat by dragging their hopelessly out-of-date office into this century, even though what he really wants to do is follow in his father’s footsteps identifying and hiding extraterrestrial sightings. He gets his chance after being assigned to El’s case and is stopped in his tracks not only by her ingenuity and confidence, but also by the unnerving coincidence of how her sighting looks eerily like what he saw right before a family tragedy. The deeper El and Carter fall into the mystery, the harder it is for them to ignore their growing chemistry, as their own alien feelings become dangerously terrestrial.
