My Review

I absolutely devoured "Pack Reject" in one sitting last night, and I'm still reeling from the emotional rollercoaster! As someone who typically gravitates toward lighter paranormal romance, I wasn't sure what to expect from this darker take on the wolf shifter genre. But oh my goddess, am I glad I took the chance! Let me tell you, Flor's story grabbed me by the throat from page one. The way the author handles themes of survival, resilience, and finding your own power really resonated with me. As someone who's had to reinvent herself more than once, I found myself deeply connecting with Flor's journey, even though our circumstances are completely different. The slow-burn romance aspect was expertly crafted - and coming from me, an admitted immediacy junkie, that's saying something! The gradual development of relationships and the careful building of trust felt authentic, especially given Flor's traumatic background. And can we talk about the protective MMCs? Each one brought something unique to the table, though I have to say, Joaquin's intensity particularly caught my attention. If I had one small gripe, it would be that sometimes the pacing felt a bit uneven. There were moments where I wanted things to move faster, but I understand why the author chose to take her time developing certain elements. What truly impressed me was how the author managed to create such a dark atmosphere while still maintaining hope throughout the narrative. The inclusion of strong female friendships (especially with Margarette) was refreshing in a genre that sometimes pits women against each other. Fair warning: this ends on a cliffhanger that had me clutching my kindle and making undignified noises at 2 AM. The wait for the next book is going to be torture! I'm giving this 4.5 out of 5 stars. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close, and I'm already planning my reread to catch all the details I might have missed in my first fevered rush through the pages. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, though with the caveat that it deals with some heavy themes and isn't your typical light paranormal romance. Pack your emotional support chocolate and prepare for an intense ride! ~Farahilda 🌙✨

Book Description

I’m the pack reject. The prey. For years, I've kept myself safe from my small pack's males, hiding in sewers and sleeping in trees to keep their teeth out of my neck. They don’t really want me, just the power and prestige that comes with winning the Hunt. I only want to survive. In three days, at the Enforcer Games, I'll have one chance to escape. But when the Games begin, and the most powerful shifters in the world arrive at my packlands and scent me, a new Hunt begins. They’re the princes of our world. And they're willing to break the rules to get me. Pack Reject is the first book in a new paranormal wolf shifter series from Amazon Top 50 and Vella-bestselling author Merri Bright. Fated mates who are driven to reject each other, powerful enemies in unlikely places, and a fierce heroine who will change the world... if she can survive the Hunt. Please read the content advisories in the Author's Note. This is a slow burn series where the heroine will not have to choose one mate, if she chooses any at all.
